what is the average number of reports on carfax.com for a 2006 vehicle?

It could depend on a number of things. I would look for less than four, but it could be legitamitely up to maybe eight. Everytime the car is sold, it gets a report. If it goes to a dealer and they don’t sell it quickly, it can go to auction to another dealer and the same could happen again. At the dealership ask for the carfax report and be sure to check the VIN and not just the color and model of the car. I have seen twice where the dealer gets the carfax for a car of the same year and color and it be a different VIN.

it really depends on the car. Car fax gets any title or owner ship changes. Unless you read the report theu could be good or bad. Car fax only gets data from public records, dmv records etc. They also get information on recalls. So like a fleet car that is wrecked and repaired will not show up unless the wreck involved a police report someplace creating a public record. I had a 2006 car that would not sell for anything it was a horrible color. It was shipped to 5 different auctions before being sold. Car had low mileage and never hit. If you ran a car fax on this it would have Ford, the dealer, the bank, the fleet that leased it, Us, and 5 more records for each auction it passed through and then the final buying dealer. So this 2006 car with 17,000 miles on it in god awful purple. would have about 13-16 records on it. because the 2 annual state inspections are on it and if it had a recall repair that would be on it as well. So unless you actually get the report and read it you have no clue why. I have seen as many as 30 records on a clean low mileage car that has never been hit.
