Do air force vehicle operations drive MRAP military vehicles?

January 14th, 2010 | by admin |

I recently changed my afsc to vehicle operations in the air force reserve. I unwittingly did my research AFTER reenlisting, i was wondering if any enlisted members in this field could tell me the odds of airmen in this afsc driving these new MRAP military vehicles in combat. Ive searched all related links and no clear answers.

The Air Force might have a FEW MRAPs but most of them go to the Army and Marines. So, the odds are that you will drive a truck or a tug on the ramp.

I’m in the AF, my afsc is Security Forces, I currently deployed in Iraq, on a TSE (Tactical Security Element) providing security for OSI. We go outside the wire in these vehicles, there are different types of MRAPs, we drive the Cougars, I must say, its a fun vehicle, plus you feel so safe in them.
As for Veh. Ops, over here, they might drive them to move them to certain locations, like the wash rack, or to the MRAP shop to be repaired.
