What type of military vehicle would fit this description?

January 21st, 2010 | by admin |

I recently saw this military vehicle at an air show/weapons expo. I was baffled as to its purpose. It was a large truck with what looked like a net on the back. So there was truck and above it, standing horizontal was a net structure. Kinda like this:-
I————————–I
I————————–I
I————————–I
I————————–I
T R U C K
The UAV net, after researching it looks to be the best bet actually. Thanks a load!

It could be a net to capture an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). Early UAVs in particular used this method.

It could be a Very Low Frequency (VLF) antenna. There are all kinds of long line antennas strung in all kinds of ways.

My guess is a UAV net made of canvas straps. In either case there would be other vehicles, either UAV control rooms or radio rooms – possibly very similar, right down to the controls and displays inside if the radio is controlled through touch screens, associated with the truck in question.

No clue what the net thing was, but I’d bet it was on a 2 1/2 ton truck.

Look up M35A2 or "Deuce and a Half"
