Why is it that the earlier gernerations of the Mercury Villager and the Nissan Quest look exactly the same?
December 26th, 2009 | by admin |Usually Ford, Mercury, and Lincoln vehicles look similar because their all part of the Ford Motor Company. But I thought Nissan isn’t part of the Ford Motor Company. Yet the Nissan Quest and the Mercury Villager look exactly alike. Why is that?
Because it is the same. Ford made a deal with Nissan to make small changes to the Quest and sell it as a Mercury. See this story on Wiki:

You are correct in that Nissan is not (nor have they ever) been part of Ford or vice versa. It was just a business deal, like the Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix or the Volkswagen Routan/Chrysler Town and Country (although the VW has some different sheetmetal).
