I’m looking for SUV or crossover vehicle in the 10-15 grand range, suggestions?

I need an SUV or SUV type vehicle. I want to be able to tow, yet most driving will be city/hwy. I like the clearance that SUVs have over crossovers. I also want something with a good rating and decent MPG, so looking towards a V6 not V8. I would like something to fit 4 people and their stuff. I’m not specific to import or domestic.

This is a popular market, I’m sure many of you have been looking for similar vehicles. Any tips, recommendations? Suggestions? Vehicles to avoid? I’ve been looking at: Envoys, Grand Cherokee V6, Liberty, Escape, TrailBlazer so far.

All the vehicles you listed are good choices, but you will just have to research each one.

    Can you buy used? There are many good Japanese SUV?crossovers that are usually more reliable than American versions, plus most of them are actually made in America. I’d recommend a Subaru Forester, but it has a flat 4, not a 6 or an 8, but it matters how much/ what you want to tow. Toyotas aren’t bad and Honda CR-Vs and Pilots are good too but most are above 10-15 unless used.

    The good thing about the 4 cylinders are that they usaully achieve great gas mileage.

    The SUVs you have mentioned will probably fall into your specified price range, so if you find one in good condition, go ahead and buy it.
